Hi! My name is Cheryl, and I have a small booktube channel on YouTube, Booktalk With Cheryl. I don't have many subscribers; fourteen, I think, but I plan to work more on the channel and gain subscribers.
I decided to start this blog, because I enjoy writing more than doing booktube. I am an aspiring author, and I think this would be a good way to share my thoughts to the bookish and authoring community more effectively.
I intend to talk about books, writing, as well as some of my creative crafting in knitting, loom knitting and crocheting. I hope that you will follow and join me in this journey.
So . . . Let's get started, shall we?
So like I said, my name is Cheryl, and I live in British Columbia, Canada. I am 40 years old, and am a part time babysitter. I live on my own, having never been married or had children. I don't really like being single, but it has its advantages.
I am currently reading the Illustrated Edition of Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets, by J.K. Rowling, and The Hate U Give, by Angie Thomas. I'm enjoying them both, but for different reasons.
Harry Potter is a reread, although I've never read the illustrated edition, before. It is full of beautiful pictures by artist, Jim Kay. His interpretations are absolutely wonderful! His pictures bring the story to life in a way I have never experienced before.
The Hate U Give, is a difficult story to read. It is about a teenage girl, named Starr, who is living a kind of double life. She lives in a hard part of town, where it is dangerous to be a black teenager. She goes to a prominently white school where being black is kind of cool. In the book, Starr's friend gets shot and killed by a white police officer, and things escalate from there. I'm about halfway through the book, and am looking forward to finishing it soon. There are a bunch of curse words in the book, but they are put in realistic points, if you know what I mean. There isn't places where the swears are just put in, but instead, they make sense where they are placed.
As for what I'm doing today, I plan to clean my apartment, (cause it's so messy) and continue knitting a sock that I am working on. I also, hope to finish reading The Hate U Give.
I'll let you know what I think of the book more, when I'm finished reading it!
Thanks for reading me! God bless you in all you do!
